Adalat XL is an extended-release form of Nifedipine, a medicine that relaxes the blood vessels. It is used to treat chest pain. Adalat XL is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by relaxing the smooth muscle cells in arteries and veins. This allows blood to flow through the vessel without causing too much force against the walls of the vessel.

Adalat XL Uses.

Adalat XL is available as tablets, capsules, and injectables. Adalat XL 30 mg, Adalat XL 20 mg, and Adalat XL 60 mg extended-release tablets are the available dosages. They are also available in generic form. This medication has been shown to reduce blood pressure in people with hypertension. It is not recommended for children under the age of 12.

Adalat XL Side Effects.

Adalat XL (Nifedipine) side effects include headache, dizziness, flushing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, rash, pruritus (itching), urticaria (hives), and hypotension (low blood pressure). These side effects usually go away after discontinuing nifedipine therapy.
